Getting New Ideas!

Starting in April I plan on jumping in the car and traveling across the State of Montana stopping in and visiting with anyone that will give me their ears to hear. I'm excited to hear the needs of people and get new ideas that UtilityGo can start developing.

One of the ideas I'm most excited about is an IPAD/ Motorola Zoom interface to our UtilityPay product. Since owning an IPAD myself, I can't imagine life without it. It gave me the idea to create a secure terminal for customers to pay their bills within the utility office. This will allow payments to be made faster with less help from front desk staff. A person can even make a payment if a clerk isn't available to talk with them. It should be fun to develop and I think it's an innovative way to incorporate this type of technology in local government. I'm already working with a fabricator to design a way to securely place the units on counters or walls.

Our First Montana Rural Water Conference

On behalf of UtilityGo Services the 2011 Montana Rural Water Conference in Great Falls was my first conference and it was awesome! I found out about the conference from the Utility Specialties rep Mike Patterson. He encouraged me to go, so I called the organization and found out that booth spaces were booked a year in advance. That didn't stop me however, and I'm glad it didn't. I opted to volunteer at the registration booth to meet people and get familiar with the Montana Rural Water organization. These people are truly great, and after the first day they offered me a last minute booth due to some complications with another vendor.

I found out about the booth possibility the night before so I sprung into action. I called a vinyl sign shop, ran around town getting goodies for the table and polished up my smile. When the chance came to get a booth space I had everything I needed "including hotwheel cars". That's right, rather than boring pens or magnetic refrigerator "thingys" - I gave out hotwheel cars (color changers) and silly bands. Everyone seemed to love them and it gave me a great opportunity to tell people about the UtilityGo software and my mission.

The conference definitely renewed my energy to continue innovating and developing good ideas. My mission is to introduce a new perspective when it comes to software products in local government. One key element is that software should be offered as a service and not a product. If you're not happy with the service, you go somewhere else. This doesn't just mean customer service, it also means quality of operation when you use your software system (ie the software service). Our company revolves around this idea and we are excited to develop new and innovative products.

This was a great conference and I will definitely be booking for next year. UtilityGo Services looks forward to a long relationship with the Montana Rural Water folks and the hard working people that run the water systems in Montana.

Getting Ready for 2011 Montana Rural Water Conference

This will be our first year going to the Montana Rural Water Conference. We are looking forward to meeting new people, sharing great ideas and handing out some UtilityGo swag. We found out about the conference too late to get a booth, but you should see us volunteering at the front entrance handing out conference badges and goodies. Just look for our logo and if you have questions, please ask!!!

This is a great way to start our year and our business! We believe in community and believe volunteering is a great way to meet people.
